For any child interested in the world of nature, the outdoors, evolution, paleoecology, geology, or natural history this book will be profoundly satisfying. Beautiful, detailed illustrations that realistically capture the feel of this high desert landscape and each elevation’s own ecological zone, alternate between the Grand Canyon as it looks today and how that terrain looked hundreds of millions of years ago (sometimes taking us underwater). The book gives a real sense of our earth's history in a way that will be very accessible to children of any age, as seen through the eyes of a girl exploring the Grand Canyon with her father. Pre-readers will pore over the illustrations (I'd have spent hours looking at those as a child!) and take in on their own level the text their parents read to them. Older children (I would not hesitate to give this book to an intelligent 6th grader) will get even more out of this book. Actually, I would recommend this wholeheartedly to adults as well; it fills one with joy and a sense of great wonder. With beautiful illustrations, Chin creates a remarkable, thorough, detailed work about the Grand Canyon, with everything from geology, geography, biology, and numerous other focuses as you go along. The information is presented in the narrative of a girl and her father hiking throughout the canyon, going from present day to the past and back, inviting children to use their imagination but to also get a real sense of this place without ever visiting (although it might make you want to visit!). Book arrived as described and in a timely manner. Ordered it for my daughter who is finishing Vet School. Will be a nice book for her to use as a reference.

Another book I ordered for my granddaughter who will graduate from OSU's vet school in May. She was particularly happy to get this book. The author uses diagrams and drawings that help in seeing what is being talked about. Also, this book was on backorder, but it came just about a week after the other ones I ordered came.

I had purchased several Pasquini text while I was in vet school. My family would often borrow this one to help diagnose. So I got them there own volume.

I have been trying to get a hold of this book for some time now, its not available to buy in-store in Ireland and has to be bought over the internet, and amazon had a great offer ! This book is amazing...such an amount of information that is actually extremely useful and to the point...in such a small book, small enough to fit into a lab coat pocket...well maybe not for lab coat....if you're on the farm...but you know what I mean. The information is very concise and to the point, telling you what you need to know instantly. I love the little animations- very clever. The chapter by chapter listing of each system makes it easy to locate what you're looking for. And the differential diagnosis chapter will be a godsend this year when I start rotations. All in all- very very worth the money.Have to love all the pasquini does !
